Railway Loco Simulator

Simulators are used to impart training to operators on complex equipment without the fear of damage to equipment and humans. Railways, across the world, have been using simulators for training locomotive drivers.

Very few countries have the technology to design and fabricate simulators. Indian Railways has imported a few simulators. The cost of each imported simulator, as per market grapevine, is approximately Rs 150 million.

We have the necessary technical expertise to handle all aspects of the development of a simulator. After development, each simulator is expected to cost about Rs 50 million.



Terms of Transfer of Technology Exclusive License for a country
Initial payment for technology cost + royalty for the period of license
Technology will remain the property of HSSL and IITD.

Rail Profiler

Rail wear is a major cause of railway accidents. Wear imposes speed restrictions and also increases operating costs due to higher energy consumption. Wear needs to be monitored continuously and worn tracks need to be replaced. Hence the need for a device for recording the rail-profile.

We offer technology for a portable unit that can be carried manually. An electro-mechanical on-field recording unit can be interfaced with any PC. A two jointed mechanical system designed acting as a miniature co-ordinate measuring machine is incorporated.

The on-field device is electronically controlled and is equipped with a single chip EEPROM, flash program memory, a keypad and RAM. The field recorder will have onboard memory that can be transferred on to solid state memory cards, and can later be downloaded to a PC. There will be no requirement for an on-field computer with this system.

In addition a software to compare the measured profile with standard profiles is available. The software can be used to directly plot the deviation from standard profiles (wear).

Once the field units are installed, in a second phase a software will be installed to collect and monitor the data centrally using wireless links. This will enable network wide monitoring of the track status through WAN connectivity.
